My Personal Commitment
I believe that the U.S. Government should make some type of reparations to minoritized populations impacted by centuries of systemic racism due to enslavement of biracial, indigenous, and persons of color that began with the 1619 arrival of enslaved persons in Hampton, Virginia due to European imperialism, resulting colonialism and through Christian Church sanctioned actions.
Until then, I will do the best that I can to help towards that effort through awarding scholarships to first generation, low-income, minoritized college students who plan on attending Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA.
While the scholarship fund is in the process of become fully endowed, I, Dr. Cook-Snell will personally provide one $500.00 scholarship for the Fall and Spring Semesters to applicants who meet the scholarship criteria described in these pages.
I appeal to others who are in a financial position to contribute, to do so directly, or to do so through my efforts by donating the the Brett H Cook-Snell Endowed Scholarship Fund, LLC, an IRS recognized 501(c)(3).
